About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Governance Officer to support our Association with governance, policy, and assurance. As a key member of our team, you will work closely with our Management Committee and Senior Management Team to champion good governance and develop our compliance approach.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Director, Senior Team, and Management Committee to ensure excellent governance of the organisation.
  • Work with the Management Committee to ensure support for governance is compliant, effective, and contributes towards our strategic objectives.
  • Identify areas for improvement and recommend solutions to enhance organisational governance performance and adherence to the Regulatory Framework and regulatory standards through undertaking self-assessment.
  • Conduct comprehensive reviews and evaluations of the Association's policies, governance structures, and compliance processes.
  • Maintain the assurance statement evidence bank and prepare updates for the Management Committee and Senior Team.
  • Continue to improve the Association's governance through undertaking continuous professional development.
  • Provide updates to the Management Committee and staff on legal and regulatory changes and what this means for the Association.
  • Promote and encourage a culture of responsibility for compliance.
  • Provide advice and guidance on issues that relate to governance and compliance matters.
  • Highlight key risk areas to the Management Committee and Senior Team as deemed appropriate, providing updates on changes and mitigation.
  • Ensure that documents and pages relating to governance are updated on our website and Publications List.
  • Work collaboratively with stakeholders in and outside of the organisation to deliver good governance, including networking and reviewing best practice.
Requirements
  • Demonstrable knowledge and understanding of governance in the Scottish social housing sector, governance structures, and related policies and best practice.
  • Relevant qualification.
  • Managing and making decisions independently.
  • High level of communication and IT skills.
  • Ability to respect and observe confidentiality at the highest level.
