Graduate Sustainable Design Engineer for Industry Placements

Industry Placements is seeking a highly motivated and talented Graduate Sustainable Design Engineer to join our team. As a Graduate Sustainable Design Engineer, you will play a key role in designing, developing, and testing electrical and mechanical solutions for our laboratory test means.

The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of circular economy principles and the life cycle of products. They will be excited by technical challenges and problem-solving, and driven to deliver innovative solutions. Strong verbal and written communication skills in English are essential, as well as a desire to work in a collaborative team environment.

The role will involve supporting electrical and mechanical design teams to improve the sustainability profiles of test benches, assisting in defining sustainability design objectives, and providing input on Life Cycle Assessments, Eco-Design Assessments, and the evolving compliance landscape. You will also be responsible for directly supporting the development and maintenance of test benches and other testing needs, as well as collaborating and providing sustainability subject matter knowledge in R&D projects focused on development of new technologies to improve the sustainability of test benches.

In addition to these responsibilities, you will have the opportunity to innovate new features for test benches, such as test bench interconnection and predictive health monitoring. Your development journey will also include a minimum of one rotational placement to support your growth into this position.

To be a successful applicant, you will need to demonstrate a Master's Degree, or Bachelor's Degree level (or equivalent) in Engineering or a Scientific based subject, as well as a strong understanding of circular economy principles and the life cycle of products. Desirable skills include an interest in technology design and assessment, understanding of technology and associated operational environmental impact, and basic understanding or strong aptitude to learn/understand sustainability related policies, regulations, standards, and literature.
