Main Duties

The Regional Research Specialty Lead will provide strategic oversight of the regional RRDN Portfolio. They will support regional portfolio oversight activities undertaken on the current portfolio as requested and in collaboration with the RDN Study Support Service.

The Regional Research Specialty Lead will identify and address impact on regional health and social inequalities at all stages of research delivery within their Specialty. They will support the RDN Study Support Service in the planning, placement and performance monitoring of studies.

The Regional Research Specialty Lead will also provide health and/or care intelligence to the on request study performance service and the Active National Delivery service. They will support funders and sponsors in study design to optimise deliverability, including providing early feedback on protocols.

The Regional Research Specialty Lead will advise on study deliverability and undertake deliverability assessments when requested, including giving consideration to equitable community-wide access/areas of high patient need.

They will build regional capacity and capability for study delivery in their Specialty. They will ensure local needs for research delivery are identified and addressed as part of building the capacity and capability for research delivery.

The Regional Research Specialty Lead will participate in projects to address any opportunities or challenges identified under the RDN Operating Model for strategic development, and Research Delivery Models.

They will embed research, engagement and delivery into the NHS and wider care environment. They will engage and initiate relevant regional stakeholders as relevant for the purpose of building regional research delivery capacity and capability within their Specialty.

The Regional Research Specialty Lead will assist in the development and mentorship of future/new Principal Investigators across the health and care sector.

They will initiate, facilitate and promote regional cross-specialty and cross-setting collaborations for improved research delivery.

Requirements

The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of the research delivery landscape and the ability to provide strategic oversight and support to the regional RRDN Portfolio.

They will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with stakeholders at all levels.

The Regional Research Specialty Lead will have a strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and address impact on regional health and social inequalities.

They will have a strong understanding of the RDN Study Support Service and the ability to support regional portfolio oversight activities.

The Regional Research Specialty Lead will have a strong understanding of the research delivery process and the ability to provide health and/or care intelligence to the on request study performance service and the Active National Delivery service.

They will have a strong understanding of the RDN Operating Model for strategic development, and Research Delivery Models and the ability to participate in projects to address any opportunities or challenges identified.

The Regional Research Specialty Lead will have a strong understanding of the research delivery landscape and the ability to embed research, engagement and delivery into the NHS and wider care environment.

They will have a strong understanding of the RDN Study Support Service and the ability to engage and initiate relevant regional stakeholders as relevant for the purpose of building regional research delivery capacity and capability within their Specialty.

The Regional Research Specialty Lead will have a strong understanding of the research delivery process and the ability to assist in the development and mentorship of future/new Principal Investigators across the health and care sector.

They will have a strong understanding of the RDN Operating Model for strategic development, and Research Delivery Models and the ability to initiate, facilitate and promote regional cross-specialty and cross-setting collaborations for improved research delivery.
