HR and Operations Officer

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced HR and Operations Officer to join our team at Membership Bespoke. As a key member of our staff, you will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating the daily business operations across both our professional membership body and Professional Development.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Oversee and coordinate daily business operations, working closely with the COO to set goals, plan, and execute business strategies.
  2. Develop and implement operational and HR policies and procedures, ensuring they are regularly reviewed and kept up to date.
  3. Manage procurement processes, coordinate material and resource allocation, and deal with day-to-day HR administration.
  4. Recruit, interview, and hire new staff members, ensuring all HR processes are followed and necessary paperwork is prepared.
  5. Administer DBS checks, arrange 'right to work' checks, and monitor staff performance.
  6. Prepare the payroll for checking by the COO and ensure monthly pension payments are made.
  7. Deal with HMRC and pension company administration, arrange IT and equipment for new staff members, and provide regular training and support.
  8. Provide secretariat function for the employee engagement forum, book train tickets, and arrange hotels when necessary.
  9. Work collaboratively with the COO to serve as a link between management and employees, managing demands of work with deadlines and changing priorities.
  10. Positively promote the professional membership body and its wholly owned subsidiary Professional Development.

Person Specification

  1. Educated to degree level or equivalent experience.
  2. A minimum of 2 years' HR experience providing general advice and guidance on HR policies and procedures.
  3. Excellent communication and influencing skills, with experience working collaboratively with others.
  4. Excellent administrative skills, attention to detail, and ability to maintain confidentiality.
  5. Excellent time management and organisational skills, with ability to multi-task and prioritise when necessary.
  6. Excellent knowledge of IT packages, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
  7. Reliability, punctuality, flexibility, and adaptability.
