About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior or Principal Mechanical Engineer to join our team at Hoare Lea. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality mechanical engineering designs and solutions for a wide range of projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and deliver mechanical engineering systems at the highest level using the latest software design packages.
  • Lead mechanical services design on large projects and take overall lead on small to medium-sized projects within the office.
  • Develop initial strategic concepts for projects, ensuring solutions are appropriate for the brief and regulatory standards.
  • Take responsibility for solid technical delivery in your work, either alone or as part of a team.
  • Engage with junior support staff in their day-to-day activities and offer advice and guidance to ensure they develop their skills.
  • Monitor fee expenditure, resource, and work delivered, and identify opportunities for innovation and research.
  • Ensure adherence to quality management and risk control procedures.
Requirements
  • Excellent technical knowledge in Mechanical Design Engineering and Building Services Engineering.
  • Previous consultancy experience, with a thorough understanding of interdisciplinary design through all stages of the design process.
  • Able to lead small to medium-sized projects and take a brief from the project lead on large projects.
  • Responsible for the quality of outputs and able to identify when outsourcing is required.
  • Appreciation of client needs and ability to face clients.
  • Ability to mentor and supervise junior members of staff.
  • Ideal candidate will be a Chartered Engineer or working towards it.
