Global Protein Category Sales Director

About the Role
As a Commercial/Trading Manager, you will play a key role in driving sales growth within our protein categories on imported global chilled and frozen Beef & Lamb offerings. You will work closely with customers and suppliers to build strong relationships, develop strategic plans, and lead cross-functional teams to achieve business objectives.
Main Responsibilities
- Manage the interface with customers and suppliers to create and maintain enduring relationships, ensuring positive category development.
- Develop and implement long-term strategic plans to deliver sales growth and optimal market performance, in collaboration with customers and suppliers.
- Manage new product development (NPD) to ensure targeted innovation and existing product development aligns with consumer trends and customer needs.
- Collaborate with the Marketing Manager to stay up-to-date with customer and consumer trends, and market performance metrics to inform the Commercial strategy.
- Support account development and fulfill customer needs by collaborating with internal commercial teams.
- Develop, plan, execute, and monitor effective new supply chains where required.
- Manage NPD projects internally and with customers/suppliers.
- Administer all aspects of account management, including budgeting, forecasting, cost price confirmations, new line forms, and internal system updates.
Requirements
- A proven track record in a Commercial management role, with experience in customer and supplier management.
- Demonstrable experience of successful stakeholder relationship management, both internally and externally.
- Strong leadership capability, with a history of leading and developing new business.
- Working knowledge of account management tools, and the ability to turn insight into action.
- Practical understanding of business accounting and forecasting.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.
- Ability to identify emerging trends and initiatives within the food market.
- Leadership skills to manage and develop a team to secure their engagement and deliver high performance.
- Sound understanding of business drivers, with the ability to identify technical opportunities to achieve those drivers.
- Ability to gather and analyze data to identify opportunities and potential risks.
- Strong commercial acumen, with good knowledge of imported chilled and frozen Global Beef and Lamb markets.
