About the Role

As a Commercial/Trading Manager, you will play a key role in driving sales growth within our protein categories on imported global chilled and frozen Beef & Lamb offerings. You will work closely with customers and suppliers to build strong relationships, develop strategic plans, and lead cross-functional teams to achieve business objectives.

Main Responsibilities

  • Manage the interface with customers and suppliers to create and maintain enduring relationships, ensuring positive category development.
  • Develop and implement long-term strategic plans to deliver sales growth and optimal market performance, in collaboration with customers and suppliers.
  • Manage new product development (NPD) to ensure targeted innovation and existing product development aligns with consumer trends and customer needs.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing Manager to stay up-to-date with customer and consumer trends, and market performance metrics to inform the Commercial strategy.
  • Support account development and fulfill customer needs by collaborating with internal commercial teams.
  • Develop, plan, execute, and monitor effective new supply chains where required.
  • Manage NPD projects internally and with customers/suppliers.
  • Administer all aspects of account management, including budgeting, forecasting, cost price confirmations, new line forms, and internal system updates.

Requirements

  • A proven track record in a Commercial management role, with experience in customer and supplier management.
  • Demonstrable experience of successful stakeholder relationship management, both internally and externally.
  • Strong leadership capability, with a history of leading and developing new business.
  • Working knowledge of account management tools, and the ability to turn insight into action.
  • Practical understanding of business accounting and forecasting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.
  • Ability to identify emerging trends and initiatives within the food market.
  • Leadership skills to manage and develop a team to secure their engagement and deliver high performance.
  • Sound understanding of business drivers, with the ability to identify technical opportunities to achieve those drivers.
  • Ability to gather and analyze data to identify opportunities and potential risks.
  • Strong commercial acumen, with good knowledge of imported chilled and frozen Global Beef and Lamb markets.
