External Communications Manager

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to lead our External Communications efforts in the UK and Continental Europe. As the Head of External Communications, you will be responsible for managing the external profile and reputation of CBRE, working closely with the leadership teams to develop and execute a market-leading media strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and Deliver PR Strategy: Collaborate with leadership teams to translate business objectives into market-leading media coverage, focusing on growth areas to support the business strategy.
  • Lead the External Comms Team: Structure the team to ensure optimal delivery of a UK PR strategy, with a key focus on growth areas to support the business strategy.
  • Media Relations and Activity: Oversee and actively drive media activity across the team, including owning top-tier media relationships, supporting interviews, developing news stories, and responding to media enquiries.
  • Comms Community Leadership: Lead the comms community across CE to drive media coverage, share best practice, and actively leverage media opportunities.
  • Issue Management and Reporting: Work with the Head of Communications and Global Corporate Communications team to manage issues and corporate deals that arise, and work closely with other corporate business functions, including People, Compliance, and Legal around sensitive media issues.
  • Team Management and Development: Ensure measurement and reporting is in place and utilized effectively to track and optimize the team's performance and ensure activity is supporting business priorities. Provide management and career development support for direct reports.

Requirements:

  • Commercial Real Estate Experience: Proven experience in commercial real estate, with a strong understanding of the industry and its trends.
  • Communication Experience: Relevant communication experience in-house, with a focus on external communications and media relations.
  • Crisis Communications: Experience of crisis communications, with the ability to develop and execute effective crisis communication plans.
  • Digital Channels: Clear understanding of digital channels and the possibilities they represent to adapt all media relations.
