Specialist sub-contractor based in Midlothian requires the assistance of an experienced Quantity Surveyor.

The primary purpose of the Quantity Surveyor's role will be to work across various contracts ensuring the maximum commercial benefit for the company. This will entail a cradle-to-grave delivery from tender stage through to final accounts and all-encompassing duties in between.

• Prepare cost estimates and budgets for construction projects.
• Manage project finances and ensure cost control measures are in place.
• Evaluate and negotiate subcontractor and supplier quotations.
• Monitor project progress and variations to ensure financial implications are understood.
• Prepare monthly valuations, monitor agreed payment terms, liaise with Main Contractor QS on payless notices or non-payment of applications.
• Ensure outstanding accounts are collected, chased, and resolved.
• Knowledge of sub-contractor self-billing tax invoices.
• Prepare CIS returns.

• Degree in Quantity Surveying or related field.
• Membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) preferred.
• Strong analytical and numerical skills.
• Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
• Proficient in cost management software.
• Experience in cost control is advantageous.
