Financial Accountant Job Description

SF Recruitment is seeking a skilled Financial Accountant to join our team on a temporary basis in Burton on Trent.

Salary: £45,000

Hours: 8am - 4:30pm Mon to Thurs, 8am - 1pm Fri

Hybrid working: Potential, to be discussed with line manager

Job Purpose:

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering accurate and timely financial information by managing the monthly financial close process, ensuring full auditability of financial data, and maintaining the financial ledgers of the operating unit.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Manage the monthly financial close process to ensure timely and effective delivery of financial information.
  2. Submit month-end management accounts.
  3. Maintain the financial ledgers of the operating unit to support the month-end reporting process and ensure all accounts are reconciled and reviewed.
  4. Coordinate and support the Shared Service Team for month-end and reporting activities.
  5. Support AR activities and provide weekly cash forecasting.
  6. Prepare a monthly reporting pack to analyse and review variances actuals vs budget/forecast.
  7. Communicate overhead spend vs budget to budget holders, monthly.
  8. Report on statutory accounts, VAT returns, National Statistics, and other reporting returns.
  9. Ensure compliance with group accounting policies and relevant statutory accounting standards (UK & US GAAP).
  10. Manage the Operating Units Sarbanes-Oxley reporting requirements.
  11. Manage the chart of accounts and the cost centre structure of the Business.
Requirements:

This role is open to QBE, AAT, or part-qual ACA/ACCA/CIMA candidates. The ideal candidate will have experience in presenting financial data, managing the external audit process, be performance-oriented, and hold excellent communication and IT skills, particularly in MS Office Applications.
