At Superscript, we're seeking a skilled Commercial Underwriter to join our team. As a key member of our underwriting team, you'll play a crucial role in evaluating and analysing insurance applications for SMEs.
Key Responsibilities:- Evaluate and assess risk associated with underwriting policies to ensure they meet Superscript's risk appetite.
- Collaborate with brokers and stakeholders to develop customised insurance solutions for SME clients.
- Review financial statements, industry classifications, loss history, and other relevant data to determine risk levels and premium pricing.
- Underwrite new and renewal SME commercial insurance policies in line with company guidelines and regulatory requirements.
- Approve or decline insurance applications based on risk assessment, underwriting guidelines, and company policy.
- Monitor and manage the performance of the SME insurance portfolio to ensure profitability and growth.
- Adjust underwriting strategies based on market trends, loss ratios, and emerging risks.
- 3-5 years experience in commercial underwriting, preferably within the UK SME market.
- Experience with various lines of business, including commercial combined, property & liability.
- Strong analytical and numerical skills, with the ability to assess risk and make informed decisions.
- Proficiency in underwriting software and tools.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail, particularly in documentation and data analysis.
