LJB Recruit is assisting a prominent Central London contractor, covering life sciences, commercial, retail, and mixed-use project sectors, in finding a skilled Senior Mechanical Estimator.

This challenging role demands a qualified professional with more than 6 years of stable experience in estimating for Mechanical Engineering projects, who can effectively communicate technical information and meet deadlines.

  • Preparation of detailed mechanical estimates from initial drawings and specifications, taking into account potential risks.
  • Implementation of company procedures, such as risk assessments and governance protocols, and keeping records of necessary approvals.
  • Collaboration with central or regional buyers to develop a comprehensive procurement strategy, encompassing supplier selection, contract terms, and pricing agreements.
  • Securing competitive quotes for mechanical resources, particularly materials and subcontractors.
  • Development of cost models for submission to clients, including establishment of appropriate employee costs.
  • Effective planning to ensure timely tender responses.
  • Influencing project design and construction through understanding of design principles and practical considerations.
  • Expertise in legal frameworks governing the water sector.
  • Familiarity with risk management methods.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of water treatment systems.

Preferred candidates will hold a degree in a relevant mechanical engineering discipline and possess experience with estimating software.

The estimated annual salary for this role is between £85,000 and £110,000.
