Job Overview

EWR Co is seeking a highly experienced Infrastructure Engineering Director to lead the development of our rail infrastructure projects. This role will be accountable for overseeing the engineering, technical and safety aspects of our programmes and projects, ensuring they are delivered to time, cost and quality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the functional area responsible for engineering, technical and safety disciplines, including programme engineering, systems engineering and health and safety experts.
  • Develop and implement policies and standards for all aspects of the railway, ensuring compliance with relevant engineering, technical and safety legislation.
  • Ensure design and delivery meet required engineering standards, while challenging standards and designs to improve value for money without compromising on safety.
  • Build and maintain close working relationships with Network Rail counterparts as the overall 'Technical Authority' for EWR Co.
  • Represent the Engineering, Technical and Safety activities in interactions with the Board and Department for Transport.

Requirements

  • Demonstrable experience of delivering engineering solutions within a complex technical environment.
  • Awareness of Health and Safety Legislation.
  • Detailed knowledge of Network Rail's engineering standards.
  • Excellent communication, relationship management and presentation skills.
  • Strong leadership, people and team management skills.

About You

You will have extensive knowledge and understanding of large scale and technically complex projects, commercial issues, legal aspects, Health and Safety financial control and procurement processes and techniques. A Masters or Bachelor's degree or equivalent in the field of engineering or equivalent business experience is essential. You will also have excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to motivate professionals from multiple disciplines.

The salary for this role is estimated to be around £120,000 per annum, depending on experience.
