The successful candidate will have post-registration knowledge and experience in working within endoscopy and gastroenterology. You will be responsible for supporting Gastroenterologists and Colorectal Consultants in delivering alternative investigations to conventional endoscopy and Colon Capsule endoscopy.

We offer a competitive salary of £37,338 - £44,962 per annum, dependant on experience. As an employee of George Eliot Hospital NHS Trust, you will also benefit from our commitment to staff development and Continuing Professional Development (CPD).

In this role, you will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless communication and coordination of care. Your excellent patient documentation and record-keeping skills will enable you to maintain accurate records and facilitate efficient decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:\

  • To support Gastroenterologists and Colorectal Consultants in delivering alternative investigations to conventional endoscopy and Colon Capsule endoscopy.\
  • To vet referrals for appropriateness for designated procedure and escalate any inappropriate referrals to referring clinician or seek advice from Colorectal/Gastroenterologist Consultants.\
  • To assess patients by obtaining clinical history and assessing suitability for bespoke investigations, including giving specific advice about diabetes and anticoagulant management.\
  • To obtain Trust written consent for diagnostic procedures and for research studies.\
  • To perform diagnostic tests (CE) including setting up equipment.\
  • To monitor results from Capsule endoscopy and escalate anomalies to senior team members.\
  • To interpret and communicate results of investigations to patients, GPs, consultants, research teams and CE, including dictation of clinical letters.\
  • To provide support and advice to patients and their carers.\
  • To ensure all patients are scheduled for appropriate procedures from new referrals and surveillance procedures.\
  • To participate in nursing audit and research activities.\
  • To maintain accurate patient records and facilitate efficient decision-making.\
  • To contribute to the development of departmental policies and procedures.\
  • To collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless communication and coordination of care.\
  • To attend training and development programs to enhance skills and knowledge.\
  • To comply with relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.\
  • To maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately.\
  • To promote a culture of respect, dignity, and inclusivity among colleagues and patients.
