Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Technician to join our successful and hardworking Design Technology department. This term-time only position involves a range of responsibilities, including equipment maintenance, repair, and support. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a school environment and excellent communication skills.

Main Responsibilities:
• Maintenance and repair of equipment and materials for lessons
• Checking equipment and materials for damage and quantity before and after use
• Construction and repair of teaching aids
• Assisting staff with class practical work
• Use of CAD, CAM, and CNC machinery to support students' project work

Additional Responsibilities:
• Maintenance of workshops to ensure a clean, safe, and orderly environment
• Clean down work room at the end of each day and ensure all materials are stored securely
• Maintain appropriate levels of consumable items in workshops
• Maintain inventory of materials and equipment and associated stocktaking duties
• Place stock orders and check deliveries

Health and Safety:
• Inform staff of potential problems with equipment and other safety matters
• Ensure flammable liquids and dangerous substances are confined to safe working areas
• Adhere to current Health & Safety requirements

Equipment Maintenance:
• Tool and machine maintenance
• Replace belts, sharpen edges, machine adjustment, and oiling
• Cleaning of equipment
• Provide emergency technical assistance when equipment breaks down or requires servicing
• Monitor equipment on loan to other departments
• Reasonable repair and maintenance of equipment across the department

Other Responsibilities:
• End of day security
• Photocopying and general support to the department as needed
• Other reasonable tasks that may be requested by the Head of Department
