Job Opportunity

  1. A senior ecologist is required to lead initiatives enhancing biodiversity and natural capital across Fenland, England. This role involves advising on ecological aspects of planning applications, supporting the Council's response to the Environment Act, and collaborating on large-scale infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Advising on biodiversity net gain, mitigation strategies, and ecosystem services for planning applications.
  • Supporting biodiversity reporting and local policy updates in response to the Environment Act.
  • Collaborating on infrastructure projects such as the Fens Reservoir development.
  • Representing the Council in public inquiries and strategic meetings.

Essential Qualifications & Experience:

  • A degree in Ecology or equivalent experience.
  • Proven knowledge of biodiversity net gain, green infrastructure planning, and natural capital in UK land-use planning.
  • At least three years of post-graduate experience in a relevant role within a local authority or conservation organisation.
  • Strong knowledge of UK wildlife legislation and the English planning system.
  • CIEEM membership or equivalent qualifications/experience.

The successful candidate will receive a competitive salary of £65 per hour PAYE.
