Reed is currently working with a school in the Doncaster area to find an experienced Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to work with a child in year 4 who has autism and complex needs. The school is looking for someone who can commit to this role on a long-term basis and work with the child until they finish year 6.

The successful candidate will provide one-to-one support to the child, ensuring they are engaged and making progress. This will involve assisting with the implementation of individual education and behaviour plans, facilitating communication with peers and teachers, and supporting the child during classroom activities and transitions.

The ideal candidate will have experience in supporting children with special educational needs, particularly those with autism. They will also be trained and experienced in PEG feeding and have a strong understanding of the challenges faced by children with complex needs. Excellent communication and teamwork skills are essential, as well as a proactive and flexible approach to the child's care and education.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one support to a child with autism and complex needs
  • Assist with the implementation of individual education and behaviour plans
  • Facilitate communication with peers and teachers
  • Support the child during classroom activities and transitions
  • Perform PEG feeding and manage any other medical needs of the child
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals to promote the child's educational and social development

Requirements:

  • Experience in supporting children with special educational needs, particularly those with autism
  • Trained and experienced in PEG feeding
  • Strong understanding of the challenges faced by children with complex needs
  • Patience, empathy, and a nurturing disposition
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • A proactive and flexible approach to the child's care and education
  • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)
