Estimated Salary: £36,430 - £37,550 per annum

Job Description:

The role of a Major Orthopaedic Scrub Practitioner is critical in providing high-quality care to patients and ensuring a safe, sterile environment in the operating theatre.

You will be responsible for preparing the operating theatre specifically for major orthopaedic procedures, ensuring all required equipment and orthopaedic instruments are ready and sterile.

Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of the operating theatre for major orthopaedic procedures
  • Providing expert assistance to surgeons during complex orthopaedic surgeries
  • Maintaining patient safety and comfort throughout the surgical process
  • FOLLOWING STRICT INFECTION CONTROL PROTOCOLS AND MAINTAINING A STERILE ENVIRONMENT TAILORED TO ORTHOPAEDIC CARE
  • Collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to achieve successful surgical outcomes
  • Mentorship and guidance of junior staff

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Registered Nurse (RN/RGN) or Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) with orthopaedic experience
  • Valid registration with the NMC (Nursing and Midwifery Council) or HCPC (Health and Care Professions Council)
  • Minimum 6 months of experience in a Scrub role, with expertise in major orthopaedic procedures
  • Strong knowledge of orthopaedic surgical protocols, sterile techniques, and specialised equipment
  • Excellent communication, attention to detail, and ability to work efficiently under pressure
