About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Health Care Assistant to join our team in the Ventilation Service at the Royal Hospital for Neuro-disability. As a Health Care Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care and support to patients with complex neuro-disability requiring invasive mechanical ventilation support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist patients with all aspects of their personal hygiene care, including washing, bathing, dressing, continence, and mouth care.
  • Work in a ventilation unit assisting patients requiring complex invasive mechanical ventilation support via a tracheostomy tube.
  • Assist with mobility, including hoisting, positioning, and assisting with mobility aids.
  • Support patients with eating and drinking tasks, including the use of adapted feeding equipment and recording of food and fluid intake.
  • Provide proficient communication with patients and others in challenging situations, including supporting patients with complex communication needs.

Requirements

  • At least 6 months of experience in a relevant healthcare environment in ventilation.
  • Verbal and Numerical qualification Level 2 English & Maths.
  • Able to carry out manual handling tasks with patients that require complex care.
