We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Research Scientist to join our team at Heriot-Watt University. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting and managing research activities in the area of Molecular Biology, with a focus on developing and testing methods to enrich specific sequence variants from within cancer patient's cell free DNA samples.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct and manage research activities, ensuring that project aims and objectives are met.
- Develop and plan research objectives in collaboration with the supervisory team.
- Present information on research progress and outcomes to stakeholders.
- Support the publication of research reports, conference papers, and indexed journal articles.
- Build and maintain relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.
- Ensure that all data collection is done ethically and in compliance with relevant policies and regulations.
- PhD degree in Molecular Biology or a related field.
- Experience of molecular biology protocols, including PCR and DNA sequencing.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Fluent in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office software.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Flexible and self-motivated, with a willingness to learn and adapt.
