Pastoral Care Specialist

Salary: £13-15 p/hr
About the RoleWe are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Pastoral Support Worker to join our Nurture Base team at a successful primary school in Southport. As a Pastoral Care Worker, you will work closely with children who require additional emotional and social support, helping them to develop the skills they need to succeed in the wider school environment.
Key Responsibilities- Provide emotional and social support to children in the Nurture Base.
- Help children develop self-esteem, resilience, and positive behaviour strategies.
- Work alongside class teachers and the SENCo to create individual support plans tailored to each child's needs.
- Deliver small group and one-to-one interventions focusing on social skills, emotional regulation, and positive behaviour.
- Build positive relationships with children, staff, and families to support holistic development.
- Assist in managing and de-escalating challenging behaviour in a calm and empathetic manner.
- Support the reintegration of children back into mainstream classes when appropriate.
- Maintain accurate records of children's progress and liaise with the wider pastoral team.
- Experience working with primary-aged children, particularly those with additional emotional, social, or behavioural needs.
- An understanding of trauma-informed practice and child development.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships with both children and adults.
- Patience, empathy, and a non-judgemental approach.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Relevant qualifications in education, child psychology, social work, or a related field are desirable but not essential.
