Job Title: Principal Systems Engineer

Job Summary:

Leonardo is seeking a highly skilled Principal Systems Engineer to join its engineering team. As a Principal Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for leading the technical work and small teams within a large team on the design, development, and testing of secure systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to system design and low-level design using technical experience, judgement, and best practice.
  • Develop, integrate, and test system solutions, including development of scripts in support of system automation and integration.
  • Progress and status reporting to internal customers.
  • Configure and administer system security tools, including SIEM systems, IDS/IPS, Endpoint Detection and Response, and others.
  • Troubleshoot system issues and faults to diagnose problems and offer proposed solutions.
  • Implement security control measures, including enabling operating system lockdown controls.
  • Develop systems engineering artefacts, including documentation to support the delivery and maintenance of system solutions.
  • Mentor other team members in area of specialism.
  • Provide specialist technical support to the business unit, supporting the project or wider programme.
  • Work with external third parties, such as vendors/resellers, to develop robust and costed solutions.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrable experience within a systems engineering or IT solution delivery role, preferably working in a secure environment.
  • Strong all-round technical ability with an excellent working knowledge of network and systems infrastructure technologies.
  • Awareness of cyber security capabilities is advantageous.
  • The role requires the candidate to be cleared to be a sole UK national with DV clearance.
