Livewell Southwest CIC is a social enterprise delivering integrated health and social care services across Plymouth, South Hams, and West Devon. We are seeking a dedicated Health Equity Champion to join our team and contribute to improving health outcomes for people with learning disabilities.

The successful candidate will work collaboratively with local authorities, GP surgeries, hospitals, and third sector organizations to ensure that individuals with learning disabilities receive timely access to early intervention and treatment. This will involve developing and implementing strategies to reduce health inequalities and improve screening uptake in this community.

The salary for this position is estimated to be around £45,000 - £55,000 per annum, depending on experience. Benefits include protected CPD time, training pathways, leadership programs, and funding for qualifications like the Care Certificate and Nurse Training Scholarships.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement strategies to reduce health inequalities and improve screening uptake in the learning disability community.
  • Collaborate with local authorities, GP surgeries, hospitals, and third sector organizations to ensure timely access to early intervention and treatment.
  • Work as part of a MDT to develop training and resources that promote inclusion in mainstream health services.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Degree-level qualification in a relevant area supplemented by significant specialist training.
  • Effective communication skills with clients and carers, colleagues, other statutory, private, and voluntary agencies.
  • A good understanding of current research identifying health inequalities for people with learning disabilities.
