Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Project Engineering Leader to join our team in Staines, supporting project opportunities across the energy transition and net zero sectors, as well as oil and gas.

About the Role

As a Senior Project Engineer at Wood PLC, you will be responsible for delivering engineering excellence on assigned projects. This involves executing and delivering the engineering scope to schedule and in accordance with applicable procedures, specifications, and standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Contribute to project execution plans, discipline design instructions, and contract requisitions; prepare project plans and multi-discipline documents such as basis of design and subcontract scopes of work.
  • Manage and coordinate engineering multidisciplinary inputs and deliverables across multiple execution centers, including workshare and high-value engineering centers.
  • Ensure compliance with quality systems and monitor deficiencies.
  • Identify and address Health, Safety, Environment, and Security (HSES) issues in design, manufacture, construction, commissioning, and operations.
  • Develop project-specific procedures.
  • Ensure that engineering disciplines comply strictly with the contract and scope of work in completing project activities.
  • Assure the quality of engineering deliverables before issuing them to customers.
  • Chair technical meetings with third parties and manage particular technical issues through to completion.
  • Plan individual work activities and manage time; liaise with disciplines to ensure timely receipt of comments.
  • Input into work plans, set targets, and hold regular reviews.
  • Expedite engineers to deliver to schedule, understand reasons for delay, and drive the development of recovery plans.
  • Resolve most delays or changes and escalate only the most serious issues.
  • Highlight and quantify changes that impact work.
  • Able to effect change when approved.
  • Supervise the work of technical professionals in the delivery of engineering deliverables, including checking work.
  • Coordinate interdisciplinary teams.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:
  • Bachelor's degree or Master's in an engineering discipline.
  • Experience in an appropriate industry (ideally in one or more of Oil & Gas, LNG & GTL, Refining, Petrochemicals, Chemicals, Pharmaceutical, Power).
  • A good understanding of technical work scope, key dates, and milestones.
  • A positive attitude to learn and develop.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Takes initiative and seeks out improvements.
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong planning, organizing, and execution skills.
  • Strong problem-solving ability.
  • Works effectively as a member of a team.
