Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Automation and Business IT Systems Engineer to join our team in Cambridge. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing planned and reactive maintenance support to Automation and Business IT systems, reducing the incidence of breakdowns and minimising plant disruption time.

Responsibilities
  • Performing planned and reactive maintenance on plant automation and business IT systems in accordance with EHS, GMP, GAMP, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Taking ownership of Automation-related activities to facilitate the successful delivery of Capital and business IT systems projects.
  • Carrying out continuous improvement of automated systems and investigating appropriate novel innovative technologies and systems to enhance and improve business automation.
  • Developing solutions when it is identified that reliability of Automation systems are impacted by obsolescence, failure of equipment and operation.
Requirements
  • Degree-qualified in a technically focused subject.
  • Member of an engineering body working towards chartership.
  • Proven experience leading Automation/IT projects and maintenance.
  • Proven experience working with electrical control systems, PLC's, and HMI's.
  • Strong experience of PLC, HMI, and SCADA programming.
  • Deep understanding of automation, controls, and production IT systems.
  • High level of technical understanding of pharmaceutical processes and equipment requirements including Quality and EHS requirements.
  • Knowledge of GAMP.
  • Effective communicator.
  • Team player.
  • Effective problem-solving skills.
Working Environment
  • Office-based.
  • Some time at suppliers, on plant.
  • On-call shift pattern to provide critical only business support, 'out of hours' production operates 24/6.
Estimated Salary: £65,000 - £80,000 per annum
