Principal Geotechnical Engineer / Engineering Geologist Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Geotechnical Engineer / Engineering Geologist to join our team in Newcastle. As a key member of our geotechnical team, you will be responsible for managing a growing workload, developing junior staff, and contributing to business development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead technical project teams and manage geotechnical workload, ensuring robust and cost-effective solutions for clients.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, colleagues, and other professionals within the firm.
  • Contribute to business development, identifying new opportunities and providing technically sound and commercially focused proposals.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry developments, best practices, and emerging technologies, applying this knowledge to deliver high-quality projects.

Requirements:

  • Chartered or near chartered status in a relevant discipline (e.g., Earth Sciences, Geology, Civil Engineering).
  • Proven experience in geotechnical engineering, including project management, technical leadership, and business development.
  • Strong understanding of geotechnical engineering principles, including ground investigation, soil behavior, and geotechnical design.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients, colleagues, and other stakeholders.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience with software such as AutoCAD, ArcGIS, RocScience, Oasys, gINT, and PLAXIS.
  • Knowledge of contaminated land legislation and planning regime.
  • Ability to interpret and review geotechnical reports, including ground models and geotechnical engineering properties.
