About the Role:

In this role, you will be responsible for delivering comprehensive financial business partnering services, offering strategic financial advice and technical support to our clients. You will work closely with senior finance colleagues to provide high-level strategic advice and support corporate initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide financial guidance to senior managers and portfolio holders, supporting resource management and budgeting processes.
  • Contribute to the statutory accounts process and liaise with internal and external auditors to ensure financial control and governance.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and mitigate financial risks by developing robust business cases and financial models.
  • Support service managers in budget setting, monitoring, and forecasting, ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance.
  • Lead and develop a small team, including Accountancy Officers and Apprentices, to drive financial performance and improvement.
Requirements:
  • Public Sector Experience: Previous experience in a public sector finance role is essential.
  • Qualifications: A member of a CCAB/CIMA body (or studying towards one) and actively engaged in CPD.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong ability to analyze financial data, identify risks, and provide solutions.
  • Communication Skills: Capable of presenting complex financial information to a range of stakeholders, including senior managers and elected members.
  • Leadership: Experience in managing or mentoring finance staff, with strong organizational skills to meet deadlines.
