About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced CNC Machinist to join our team at Progress Rail in Sheffield. As a key member of our machine shop, you will be responsible for operating CNC milling machines and producing high-quality machined components within tight deadlines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate CNC milling machines to produce complex parts with precision and accuracy.
- FOLLOW ROUTE CARD INSTRUCTIONS and read engineering drawings to ensure correct machining procedures.
- Use dial test indicators (DTI) and clocks for probing and setting up jobs.
- Loading NC programs and tooling for parts to be machined.
- Operating overhead cranes safely and efficiently.
- Inspect products on completion or as part of the manufacturing process, using conventional measurement techniques.
- Performing routine maintenance and troubleshooting on CNC machines.
- Recording direct and indirect works in line with company procedures.
- Reporting errors or discrepancies in manufacturing instructions or documentation.
Requirements:
- Prior experience in manufacturing, preferably in a medium- to heavy-industry environment.
- Strong knowledge of CNC milling and programming languages.
- Familiarity with Fanuc, Heidenheim, and Siemens control systems is advantageous.
- Awareness of safety legislation and quality procedures, such as ISO 9001.
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
