About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mental Health Practitioner to join our team at Devon County Council. As an Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP), you will play a critical role in providing essential support to individuals in need of mental health services.

Key Responsibilities

As an AMHP, you will be responsible for:

  • Triage and prioritizing workloads to make decisions on carrying out assessments in line with Devon County Council's statutory responsibilities.
  • Working independently to undertake Mental Health Act assessments and providing expert advice to colleagues.
  • Collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams to provide comprehensive support to individuals and their families.
  • Developing and implementing innovative service models to improve outcomes for service users.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A recognized AMHP qualification and extensive knowledge of the Mental Health Act and mental health social work practice.
  • Experience of working independently and as part of a team to manage complex cases.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues, service users, and their families.
  • A valid driving license and ability to travel to various locations within Devon.
