Job Summary

The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking a highly skilled Warehouse Supervisor to oversee the procurement and distribution of fresh and frozen produce, eggs, milk, kosher products, and emergency supplies throughout Virginia, North Carolina, and Maryland. This is a critical role that requires strong leadership and organizational skills to ensure the efficient and cost-effective operation of the warehouse.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the receipt, storage, and delivery of commodities, including fresh produce, frozen foods, milk, juice, and kosher products.
  • Manage inventory levels and ensure accurate records are maintained.
  • Supervise inmate workers and provide training and guidance as needed.
  • Organize work assignments and ensure the smooth operation of the warehouse.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless supply chain operations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience in general warehouse practices and supply chain management.
  • Valid Class A CDL with tanker endorsement required.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate forklifts and electric pallet jacks.
  • Demonstrated ability to lift and handle units of produce weighing 50 lbs.
  • Ability to train and supervise inmate workers.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a correctional setting.

Working Conditions

This is a wage position limited to working no more than 1,500 hours per agency during the 12-month period. The wage employment period resets on May 1 of the following year. All wage employees are limited to working no more than 29 hours per week on average over the 12-month period. This wage position offers no state benefits.
