About the Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated dietitian to join our acute adult team at Fairfield Hospital. This permanent post offers an exciting opportunity to work within specialist areas, including stroke, parenteral nutrition, and critical care.

You will have the chance to develop and take part in staff teaching and training, as well as maintain your continuous professional development. You will also support and supervise student placements and Dietetic Assistants, and play a key role in raising the profile of dietetics across the Care Organization and within the MDT.

You will be actively involved in the development, implementation, and audit of patient care practices as part of Clinical Governance. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Ensuring the safe and timely discharge of patients on nutrition support and liaising with internal and external agencies.
  • Attending staff meetings and participating in discussions concerning the running of the nutrition and dietetic service.
  • Participating in the achievement of dietetic department objectives.

Person Specification

We are looking for a dietitian with:

  • BSc/MSc Nutrition and Dietetics or postgraduate diploma in Nutrition and Dietetics.
  • HCPC Registration.

Desirable qualifications include:

  • Member of the BDA.
  • Accredited BDA course in a specialist area.
  • Member of a specialist group.

We are looking for a dietitian with good knowledge of Nutrition and Dietetics and an understanding of the dietary management of common conditions requiring diet therapy. You should also have awareness of the HCPC standards of conduct, performance, and ethics, and be able to work flexibly within a stressful and unpredictable environment.

You should have well-developed communication skills with people from a wide variety of backgrounds, and be able to convey complex information in an understandable way. You should also be able to demonstrate organisational skills, including time management, prioritising, and the ability to complete a task.

Clinical experience of nutrition support, including enteral feeding, is essential. Previous experience within specialist areas, basic knowledge of clinical governance, and previous experience of parenteral nutrition and critical care are desirable.
