About the Role

Morson Talent is partnering with a leading player in the Energy Sector to find a skilled Mechanical Engineer to join their site-based team in Somerset. This is a contract position, working 3 days a week on-site and 2 days in a hybrid setup.

Job Overview

The successful candidate will be part of a multi-national Joint Design Office team responsible for reviewing and accepting the HVAC scope of a major infrastructure project.

Key Responsibilities
  • Respond to engineering queries, non-conformances, and change requests from the site contractor, with support from the responsible designer or site experts when needed.
  • Provide oversight to ensure compliance with nuclear safety and environmental regulations.
  • Challenge design decisions to align with project strategy.
  • Assist in coordinating support from external organizations.
  • Contribute to resolving and closing open points.
  • Assess technical risk and address it accordingly.
Requirements
  • Degree or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Extensive experience in HVAC design, installation, and/or commissioning.
  • Experience applying multi-disciplinary technical knowledge in a highly regulated industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of the construction/installation industry.
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation, including CDM and Nuclear Site License requirements (desirable).
  • Ability to influence diverse stakeholders, particularly in a site environment.
  • Ability to work independently, be proactive, report on, and escalate relevant issues.
