Job Title: Access and Digital Engagement Archivist

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated archivist to join our team as an Access and Digital Engagement Archivist. This is a pivotal role within the Borthwick Institute for Archives team, responsible for access, digital engagement, and medieval records.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement access strategies to enhance user engagement and experience.
  • Collaborate with academic staff to devise, develop, and manage research projects in Departments and specialist interdisciplinary centres.
  • Teach medieval palaeography to postgraduate students and facilitate access to medieval records.
  • Work closely with the Borthwick Institute Leadership Team to provide strategic direction and delivery of outreach and engagement activities.
  • Develop and manage digital engagement projects, including podcasts, commercial partnerships, and digital library provision.
Requirements:
  • Proven experience in access and digital engagement, with a strong understanding of medieval records and palaeography.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong technical skills, with experience in digital preservation and access technologies.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a high degree of initiative and creative thought.
