The role offers a unique blend of fieldwork, travel, and remote work opportunities, with a focus on supporting the Geo division through task allocation, resource management, and collaboration with senior engineers and project managers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the supervision of ground investigation works, with mentoring and shadowing provided.
  • Travel throughout the UK, with approximately 80% of time spent working away from home and 20% in the Wakefield office.
  • Attend and pass internal and industry-recognized training courses, such as PTS, NRASWA, CCNSG, CAT, First Aid, and manual handling training.
  • Log soil and rock samples in accordance with BS5930:2020.
  • Install and monitor various instrumentation, including gas and groundwater, inclinometer, vibrating wire piezometer, magnetic extensometers, water level divers, and other bespoke projects.
  • Undertake gas and groundwater sampling.
  • Support the Geo, Survey, and Applied Technologies departments with site-based projects, as required.
  • Timely data management, processing, and reporting.
  • Assist with yard maintenance, including soil sample organization and monitoring equipment hiring, maintenance, and repairs.
  • Adhere to RSK company policies and client procedures when on site.
  • Maintain and develop technical knowledge, including British Standards and industry standards.

About You:

We seek a collaborative and self-motivated individual with a BSc in Geology, Geography, Earth Sciences, or a related field. Key skills include:

  • Ability to follow instructions, work in a team, and use own initiative.
  • Commitment to safety and improving ways of working.
  • Self-motivated, solutions-focused, organized, and effective time management.
  • Professional and polite communication at all times.
  • Familiarity with data management tools and reporting software.
  • Microsoft Office and computer literacy.
  • Adaptability to variable working environments.
  • Ability to work remotely and travel, including overseas.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, when required.
  • A manual, valid UK driving license.
  • Unrestricted work rights in the United Kingdom.
