About the Job

As a Vehicle Dismantler at SYNETIQ Ltd., you will play a vital role in our parts recycling process, responsible for dismantling vehicles to extract valuable components, such as engines and gearboxes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Dismantle vehicles in line with job requests, locating the correct vehicle, assessing the required work, and organizing the forklift to safely remove the vehicle from the ramp to the floor or stand.
  • Identify and remove vehicle parts, ensuring no damage to other components, checking their quality, model numbers, and other essential details.
  • Complete accurate records, marking up, tagging, and bagging each part with the stock number and vehicle details, placing them in the designated order area according to established standards.
  • Label each part with essential information, such as engine size, year of the car, make, and model, and arrange for parts to be recorded on the database.
  • Liaise with colleagues to provide advice, obtain further information, update records, and resolve any issues that arise.
  • Access the database system to gather additional information on parts as needed.
  • Strip and scrap vehicles in accordance with company standards, procedures, and specific requirements.
  • Remove engines, gearboxes, and other large parts using suitable equipment, checking engine compressions and quality.
  • Strip down vehicles to the extent where it is safe to cut out sections required with a Stihl saw, ensuring all oils, etc. have been removed.
  • Open cars that have been deadlocked, locate electronic vehicle components (ECUs, airbags, etc.).
  • De-pollute vehicles by removing and storing hazardous fluids.
  • Use relevant machinery to heat, release, and remove glass (not bonded glass) on request.
  • Support the fulfillment of export orders as required.
  • Ensure accurate completion of paperwork and electronic records on time.
  • Provide cover for other duties as necessary.
About You:
  • Experience working with cars, either mechanically, body panels, or as a hobby fixing your own cars.
  • Knowledge of checking oils and other hazardous chemicals.
  • Understanding of health and safety regulations.
  • Forklift truck license (counterbalance and telescopic - rough terrain).
  • Ability to provide your own tools.
  • Capacity to lift and handle heavy weights safely.
  • Able to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
