Role Overview: As the Health and Safety Lead, you will be responsible for leading and managing the Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) function within the company. You will develop and implement HSE strategies, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and to promote a culture of safety and environmental responsibility.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement the site HSE plan with a focus on culture.
  • Utilizing regional contacts, lead on people development with a clear focus on industry standards.
  • Provide advice and guidance to the business at all levels.
  • Take ownership for developing, implementing, and maintaining critical plans, policies, and procedures.
  • Manage HSE records.
  • Write detailed risk assessments and maintain the risk assessment library accordingly.
  • Support the HR Department with information regarding occupational health referrals.
  • Manage the incident, accident, and near miss reporting system and follow up actions in a timely manner either directly or through delegation.

Requirements:

  • NEBOSH is essential for this role.
  • Previous environmental experience is desirable.
  • Food industry experience is desirable.
  • Experience of LEAN manufacturing is desirable.
  • Ability to influence decision makers.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Resolution-focused outlook to problem solving.
  • Able to teach and coach in an understanding manner.
  • Highly organized approach to working.
  • Knowledge of ISO9001 and 14001 is advantageous.
  • Certifications and verifications, including ISO14001 and ISO 45001, are desirable but not essential.
