Job Overview

We are seeking a Peer Support Specialist to work in our Peer Recovery Support Center. As a key member of our team, you will create conditions for a safe space for participants, modeling and upholding our Code of Ethics, Mission Statement, and trauma-informed values.

Responsibilities
  • Support peers in the center by creating a safe and welcoming environment that reflects our organizational values.
  • Model NRC's Code of Ethics, Mission, and Vision in all interactions.
  • Engage with peers using motivational interviewing, appreciative inquiry, and active listening to discover their interests.
  • Locate resources, recovery pathways, and recovery communities to support peers.
  • Maintain an attractive, clean, and safe environment, preparing the space as needed for opening and closing daily.
  • Provide ongoing support to participants and members in maintaining a safe and welcoming environment.
Requirements
  • Lived experience with substance addiction recovery.
  • Comprehensive understanding of addiction and its effects.
  • Knowledge of organizational development and community building.
  • Ability to take initiative and be a self-starter.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Valid driver's license required for travel within Massachusetts.
Compensation

The estimated annual salary for this position is $60,000-$70,000, depending on experience.
