We are currently seeking a Curatorial Research Specialist to join our team at the Bath Assembly Rooms project. This role will involve conducting research to support the development of a new exhibition and immersive visitor experience.

Job Summary

This is a full-time contract until end June 2025. The successful candidate will be responsible for undertaking independent research into specific topics related to the Georgian era, including people, fashion, food, and furniture. They will also work closely with our curatorial team to develop narratives on a wide range of themes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conducting robust research to provide raw material for creative teams
  • Working directly with the existing curatorial team to develop narratives on various themes
  • Undertaking independent research into specific topics related to the Georgian era
  • Providing research findings to support the development of a new exhibition and immersive visitor experience

Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Interest or specialism in 18th and early-19th century periods with relevant experience or a degree in a relevant area and post-graduate qualification
  • Experience of conducting research for interpretation within a heritage, arts, or similar environment
  • Successful track record of writing up research for a range of ongoing uses by a variety of people
  • Enthusiasm for working with others to take a creative approach to unlocking historical stories and relevance for internal and external audiences
  • Strong communication and planning skills, alongside the ability to work at pace and be decisive
  • Advanced IT skills, using collections management database and other specialist software
