As a Telecommunications Systems Engineer at Expleo, you will play a crucial role in the engineering of communication systems and associated supporting sub-systems to achieve overall mission system intent. Under the direction of Communication Engineering Leads and guidance of the Engineering Programme Manager, you will support the delivery of engineering and system design, collaborating with other Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to contribute to technical interactions with the end customer.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Generation of detailed specifications, high-quality design documentation, and other technical deliverables.
  • Participation in requirements management, justification, and decomposition, including the decomposition of interfaces and studies between systems, sub-systems, and functions.
  • Support for development, building, testing, and trialling of solutions, as well as participation in Validation, Verification, Test, and Acceptance activities.
  • Support for Operational Engineering teams with in-service systems, troubleshooting technical faults, and problem management.

Qualifications and Essential Skills:

  • Degree or HNC/HND or equivalent in Telecommunications or Electronic Engineering.
  • Creation of solutions and problem-solving in accordance with customer requirements.
  • Ability to adapt to a constantly changing environment.
  • Team player with the ability to work independently.
  • Great communication skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Management of self and workload ensuring on-time delivery.
  • Accomplished using Microsoft Office suite.

Desired Skills:

  • Knowledge of voice and data comms technologies and protocols such as SIP/RTP, ED-137, serial, IP, TDM.
  • Military communications systems experience.
  • RF transmission & reception systems.
  • Knowledge of UK MoD security (JSP 604), practices, and ways of working.
  • Software & Hardware integration experience.
  • Lifecycle engineering experience, including System of System.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years (10 preferred) demonstrable relevant experience.
  • Experience or transferable knowledge from similar systems, including voice and data traffic handling, network switching systems, VCCS (Voice Communications Control System), ICCS (Integrated Communications Control System).
  • System development and/or application of engineering change experience.
  • Awareness in application of Baseband technologies.

Requirements:

  • Candidate should be able/prepared to work at our client's site in Bristol or Harrogate Hybrid (75% site attendance).
  • Must hold or be able to obtain SC clearance with the willingness/ability to gain DV clearance.
  • Due to security restrictions, candidates must be UK National.
  • Willingness for occasional travel to other sites.
