Position Overview:

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Science Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience working with students with special educational needs and challenging behaviours, particularly in a secondary school setting. As a Science Teacher, you will be responsible for creating and delivering engaging and accessible lessons that cater to the diverse needs of our students. You will work collaboratively with other staff members to develop Education Health Care Plans (EHCPs) and provide ongoing support and guidance to ensure the academic success and personal development of all students.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality science lessons that are adapted to the individual needs and abilities of students with special educational needs.
  2. Utilize assistive technologies and adaptive equipment to support students with physical disabilities or sensory impairments in accessing the science curriculum.
  3. Collaborate with other teachers, teaching assistants, therapists, and support staff to create a cohesive and inclusive learning environment.
  4. Participate in professional development opportunities to expand knowledge and skills in special education and adapt teaching strategies to meet the evolving needs of students.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Education, Science or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  2. Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent certification.
  3. Proven experience working with students with special educational needs, particularly in a secondary school setting.
  4. Strong subject knowledge in Science and the ability to effectively communicate complex concepts to students with diverse learning needs.
  5. Familiarity with assistive technologies, adaptive equipment, and accommodations for students with disabilities.
  6. Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting the academic and personal growth of students with special educational needs.
