Job Title: Locum Specialist Registrar in Psychiatry

Job Overview:

Locum Meds is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Locum Specialist Registrar in Psychiatry to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in providing high-quality psychiatric care to patients within our trust.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct Comprehensive Psychiatric Assessments: Gather relevant medical, psychiatric, and psychosocial histories of patients referred to the service.
  • Formulate Accurate Diagnoses: Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to develop individualized treatment plans based on assessment findings.
  • Provide Evidence-Based Treatment Interventions: Offer pharmacotherapy, psychotherapy, and other modalities tailored to meet the unique needs of each patient.
  • Monitor and Review Patient Progress: Regularly review patients' progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary to optimize outcomes and ensure continuity of care.
  • Participate in Team Meetings: Engage in ward rounds, case conferences, and other team meetings to discuss patient progress, treatment strategies, and discharge planning.
  • Supervise Junior Medical Staff: Provide guidance and support in the delivery of patient care to junior medical staff, including Foundation Year doctors and Core Psychiatry Trainees.
  • Engage in Continuous Professional Development: Maintain and enhance clinical knowledge and skills in various subspecialties of psychiatry through continuous professional development activities.
  • Contribute to Clinical Governance Initiatives: Participate in audit, research, and quality improvement projects to promote excellence in patient care and service delivery.
  • Adhere to Trust Policies and Procedures: Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, professional standards, and ethical principles.
  • Foster a Collaborative Working Environment: Promote effective communication and teamwork among colleagues and other healthcare professionals.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Medical degree from a recognized institution
  • Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) or eligibility for registration
  • Completion of Core Psychiatry Training (CT1-3) or equivalent experience
  • Membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists or equivalent qualification
  • Demonstrated expertise in various subspecialties of psychiatry through clinical experience or additional training
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills
  • Commitment to providing compassionate, patient-centered care
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage competing demands in a fast-paced clinical environment
  • Willingness to participate in on-call duties and weekend shifts as required

  • Pay: £69.17-£90.00 per hour
  • Expected hours: 45 per week
