Salary & Benefits

The successful candidate will receive an annual salary of £27,210, plus contributory pension scheme where CEFAS contributes £7,882 annually towards your pension. Additionally, you will be entitled to 25 days' annual leave on entry (rising to 30 days over first 5 years) and 8 public holidays a year, plus an extra day to mark the King's birthday.

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled IT Infrastructure Specialist to join our team in the CEFAS IT Services Group as part of the CEFAS IT System Management and Support Team.

You will be responsible for working with internal and external customers to progress and resolve service-related problems and tasks, assisting in the management, delivery, and support of CEFAS IT services and systems. You will also contribute to the improvement of existing systems and processes, aiding in the development of new services by working with IT Systems Managers and Architects.

This role involves providing first- and second-line support and operational management services for all internal and external CEFAS IT customers. Key responsibilities include:

  • Triaging, recording, analysing, and resolving problems associated with CEFAS' IT infrastructure and systems.
  • Operational management and administration of CEFAS IT systems and services.
  • End-user management, support, and administration services including access to services, adding and removing users, and installing and configuring end-user hardware and software when necessary.
  • Managing and liaising with third-party suppliers on deliverables and support issues.

A shift-based working pattern applies, with shifts starting at no later than 8 am and finishing at 5 pm. The team may require staff to take on additional duties and responsibilities commensurate with their grade, subject to discussion with Team Leaders and management.

Required Skills & Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you must demonstrate excellent customer liaison skills, the ability to work under pressure, and a motivation to deliver high-quality technical services and products to targets. You should also have experience in a similar customer service environment and be able to exercise a flexible approach to occasional out-of-hours working.

Desirable skills include experience supporting Microsoft Windows and Office suite products, diagnosing PC hardware and software faults, and working to ITIL guidance where possible.
