Job Title: Principal or Sr. Principal Systems Engineer

Location: RG7 4PR, located between Reading and Basingstoke, with free onsite parking.

About the Role:

AWE is seeking motivated and experienced individuals to lead and apply Systems Engineering approaches to mechanical, electronic, processing, safety, security, or nuclear projects. As a Principal or Sr. Principal Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, coordinating, integrating, and verifying Nuclear Warheads and enabling systems to meet current and potential future customer requirements.

You will work within the Warhead Systems Engineering Team, providing the capability to manage systems from cradle to grave, considering safety, performance, and through-life maintenance while interfacing with the MoD and other strategic defence partners. This role requires strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as excellent communication and soft skills to work with people and teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Delivering engineering projects with a consideration for quality, time, and cost
  • Leading on the delivery of requirements, conceptual designs, detail designs, manufacturing specifications, operational documentation, and validation evidence for engineering solutions across multiple lifecycle phases
  • Leading and managing stakeholder partnerships
  • Supporting the training and development of less experienced engineers through formal and informal mentoring
