Clerk of Works Opportunity

A freelance, inside IR35, position exists for a traditional Clerk of Works on a large civil engineering project. Your meticulous ability to inspect and assess all construction activity, materials and workmanship to ensure and to exceed civil engineering standards is sought.

Your duties will include:

  1. Ensuring the works are constructed in accordance with the design and specifications.
  2. Proposing solutions and offering advice based on your experience, all within the contract requirements.
  3. Communicating effectively between the delivery teams, Consulting Engineers, and project Management.
  4. Championing the company's Health and Safety standards.
  5. Conducting inspections to assess quality and workmanship.
  6. Approval of materials and products.
  7. Checking risk assessments and method statements.
  8. Attending progress meetings and reporting on progress.
  9. Maintaining accurate quality records.

Requirements for this Post:

  1. Extensive experience overseeing the quality and workmanship on civil engineering projects which include drainage, reinforced concrete structures, and earthworks.
  2. Proven experience on large multi-million infrastructure/rail projects is essential.
  3. Previous experience in a similar position working for a tier one principal Contractor in the UK.
  4. Experience in working with the delivery team to ensure the required quality is met.
  5. Preferably a civil/construction qualification.
  6. The ability to foresee potential issues and to intervene/escalate timeously to avoid delays, reworks, and extra costs.
  7. Computer literate and capable of using site-based IT platforms for drawings and specs.
  8. Be accredited with the Institute of COW or Quality Managers.
  9. CSCS, SSSTS/SMSTS, First Aid.

In return for your skills and experience, we offer an estimated salary of £50,000 - £65,000 per annum, plus benefits.
