About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechatronics Engineer to join our Engineering Technology Centre (ETC) team at Renishaw. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for integrating concept-enabling mechatronic solutions with other systems, driving innovation and pushing the boundaries of machine automation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Research and develop mechatronic and automation systems to interact with new and existing systems
  • Support the development of early-stage prototypes, including testing, bug-fixing and problem solving, feeding back results to improve system designs
  • Contribute to team ideation, suggesting and evaluating novel approaches and helping to implement solutions for new products

About You

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a strong background in mechatronics, automation systems, and related disciplines. You will also need to have hands-on experience with developing or using automation systems/equipment, as well as practical mechanical workshop experience.

Requirements:

  • Qualified to degree level in an Engineering, Mechatronics, Physical Sciences, Mathematics, or a related discipline
  • Proven experience applying mechatronics knowledge to automation systems within a similar, complex engineering environment
  • Hands-on experience of developing or using automation systems/equipment (PLCs, robotics, servo drives, pneumatics, interlocks etc.)
  • Practical mechanical workshop experience (e.g., turning, milling, modelmaking)
  • Proficiency in electrical assembly and testing methods (e.g., cable termination, electrical panel wiring, PCB assembly, use of electrical test equipment)
  • Software development experience in C#, Python, Modern C++, or MATLAB/Octave
  • Experience with using CAD software (e.g., Siemens NX, SolidWorks, Catia)
  • Experience in implementing real-time control systems, including safety critical elements and hardware interfaces
