Role Overview
The Companion Volunteer will play a vital role in the lives of individuals with learning disabilities and autism, who may also have sight loss, at our supported living service in Didcot. As a reliable companion, you will attend activities with the individuals, promoting social interaction and a sense of community.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide companionship and support to individuals with learning disabilities and autism, who may also have sight loss.
- Attend activities with the individuals, such as going for a walk, attending a concert, or going out for coffee or a meal.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with the individuals, promoting their independence and well-being.
- Assist with daily tasks and activities, as needed.
- Participate in training and development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge.
Requirements
- Be kind, empathetic, and friendly.
- Have a good sense of humour and enjoy chatting.
- Be punctual and reliable.
- Be able to deal with information in line with our data protection and confidentiality procedures.
- Be able to assist when necessary with sighted guide/orientation.
- Be over the age of 18.
