**About the Role**

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Compliance Officer to join our Conduct and Compliance Advice team at Starling Bank. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in ensuring that our business meets its regulatory obligations and effectively manages its regulatory compliance and conduct-related risks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide Regulatory Compliance Advice: Provide timely and accurate regulatory compliance and conduct-related advice, guidance, and support to our first line of defence (1LoD) / business teams, ensuring that our products and services comply with relevant laws, regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Conduct Risk Management: Identify, assess, and mitigate conduct risks associated with our products and services, ensuring that we deliver good customer outcomes and maintain a strong reputation.
  • Relationship Building: Build and maintain strong relationships with our 1LoD teams, fostering a collaborative working environment and ensuring that our Compliance and Conduct functions are aligned with business objectives.
  • Policy Development: Support the development and implementation of our conduct risk and compliance frameworks and policies, ensuring that they are aligned with our Enterprise-Wide Risk Management framework.
  • Reporting and Compliance: Support the Compliance Team's monthly reporting pack(s) and ensure that all regulatory compliance and conduct-related requirements are met.
  • Financial Promotions: Approve and sign off financial promotions and marketing across all products and services offered by Starling Bank.

Requirements:

  • Regulatory Expertise: Deep working knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and industry best practices related to compliance, and financial services, including BCOBs, CONC, LSB, PSD2, SYSC, and MCOBs.
  • Experience: Experience within lending or savings product compliance, with a strong understanding of conduct risk and compliance frameworks.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication (written and verbal), relationship building, and influencing skills, with the ability to communicate effectively to a variety of audiences, including senior management and committees.
  • Analytical Skills: Proven analytical skills and problem-solving skills, with the ability to understand and interpret business knowledge.
  • Conduct Risk Management: Detailed knowledge and experience of identifying key conduct and compliance risks, with the ability to develop and implement effective risk mitigation strategies.
  • Judgement and Decision Making: Sound judgement and decision-making skills, with the ability to see things through to resolution at all times.
  • Emerging Issues: Proactive with regards to ownership and oversight of emerging and existing compliance and conduct issues and risks.
  • Curiosity and Inquisitiveness: A naturally curious and inquisitive approach to work, proactively questioning the status quo where appropriate.
  • Resilience: Resilient and not shy away from having difficult conversations.
  • Collaboration: Willingness to share knowledge with the team and collaborate across all product lines with all members of the team.
