Job Description

Job Title: Assistant Lawyer

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Assistant Lawyer to join our team at Keoghs LLP. As an Assistant Lawyer, you will play a key role in supporting our lead lawyers in handling regulatory cases, motor crime, and inquest work. You will be responsible for investigating incident circumstances, assisting with case resolution, and providing technical and client-facing support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Case Management: Review and analyze prosecution evidence, considering implications for lay clients and companies.
  • Statement Drafting: Draft statements of insured witnesses and review client evidence.
  • Liaison and Communication: Liaise with courts, coroner's offices, and regulatory bodies, as well as instructing experts and serving reports.
  • Document Preparation: Serve defense case statements, sentencing bundles, and mitigation bundles.
  • Written Submissions: Draft written submissions following liaison with clients.
  • Client Support: Provide support to insureds, including reviewing transcripts of evidence and attending conferences and meetings.
  • Site Visits: Attend site visits, take photos, and draft basic statements.
  • Research and Compliance: Conduct research into relevant guidelines and ensure compliance with SRA standards and regulations.

Requirements:

  • Qualifications: Qualified Solicitor with a minimum of 1 year's PQE, with experience in crime, regulatory, or care home inquest cases.
  • Skills: Ability to prioritize workload, pay attention to detail, work with case management systems, and communicate effectively with clients and colleagues.
