About the Role

We are looking for a skilled and motivated Structural or Mechanical Engineer to join our team at a thriving business in the Plymouth area.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a steelwork background to take on a new challenge and contribute to the success of our company.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of engineering principles and be able to work autonomously.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop engineering packages for major projects across the South West
  • Assess operational and design basis failures/faulted conditions
  • Work closely with our team of Engineers to produce design packages from concept through to on-site installation and commissioning
Requirements
  • Engineering Degree or equivalent
  • Broad engineering knowledge and understanding of Engineering facilities and/or building services
  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Ability to learn new skills and techniques
  • Enthusiastic, self-motivated, confident and able to work unsupervised
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Able to manage own time and work load
  • Willing to work in an office and to travel where projects require
  • Willing to undertake training and professional development
Desirable Skills
  • Knowledge of steel design codes
  • Use of 2D and 3D CAD software such as AutoDesk AutoCAD, Inventor, relevant engineering software such as MathCAD/Hevacomp/STAAD/A3D Max and MS Word/Excel
  • Properties of engineering materials such as carbon and stainless steels and aluminium
  • Design appreciation of civil/steelwork structures
  • Design of mechanisms to integrate bearings/gearboxes/drives
  • Experience of installation and commissioning plant
What We Offer
  • Salary £45,000 - £60,000 DOE
  • Yearly pay increments based on inflation
  • Yearly bonus up to 20%
