Horticultural Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Horticultural Specialist to join our team at Brackenberry Ltd. as a Gardener on a 2-month contract, with a high likelihood of extension at the client's discretion.
Job Summary:
The successful candidate will be responsible for undertaking various tasks in public parks, playing fields, landscaped areas, and similar open spaces, including general maintenance, horticultural operations, and grounds maintenance.
Key Responsibilities:
- General Maintenance: Undertake work in public parks, playing fields, and landscaped areas, including grass cutting, hedge trimming, sweeping, hoeing, raking, edging, removal of litter and rubbish, and construction laboring work.
- Horticultural Operations: Patrol and attendance activities, collection and issuing of fees and tickets, and maintenance of orderly conduct by the public to ensure Council bylaws are complied with.
- Grounds Maintenance: Horticultural operations, including planting, pruning, seeding, and turfing, and grounds maintenance, including basic setting out and marking of sports areas, spiking, scarifying, top dressing, and fertilizing, and maintenance of Council tennis courts.
- Assistance: Assist higher-graded gardeners in more skilled tasks, including planning seasonal works, assistance with propagation and nursery care of plants, site preparation, and construction.
Requirements:
- Qualifications: NVQ Level 1 Horticulture and a minimum of 12 months relevant experience, including the use of commercial grounds maintenance machinery, or in lieu of qualification, a minimum of 2 years relevant experience, including the use of commercial grounds maintenance machinery.
- Experience: Experience of working with grounds maintenance equipment while in the presence of members of the public and/or traffic, experience of keeping written records for operational issues, and previous working experience with either fine turf or within a bedding plant nursery.
- Availability: Availability to work immediately or at short notice and the right to work in the U.K.
