Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant

Milk Education is seeking a dedicated SEN teaching assistant to work alongside an excellent school in the South of England. This opportunity provides a chance to gain valuable experience working with special needs pupils and developing your skills in behavior management and interpersonal relationships.

About the Role:

We are looking for an experienced and trained individual to provide high-quality support and a positive attitude to the workplace. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting children with challenging behaviors, assisting the class teacher, and working on a 1-1 basis or in small groups with the children.

This position offers an excellent chance to develop your skills and experience in a supportive and dynamic environment. As a SEN teaching assistant, you will play a vital role in helping students achieve their full potential and making a positive impact on their lives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support children with challenging behaviors and develop strategies to manage these behaviors.
  • Assist the class teacher in implementing lesson plans and activities that cater to the needs of special needs students.
  • Work on a 1-1 basis or in small groups with the children, providing personalized support and encouragement to help them reach their goals.
Requirements:
  • Trained and experienced working with children with ADHD and/or SEMH.
  • Behavior management experience using positive behavior management strategies and de-escalation techniques to support students with challenging behavior.
  • Interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with students, even those who may be initially disengaged or resistant to authority.
  • Prior experience in alternative education settings, such as PRUs, special educational needs (SEN) schools, or working with children with behavioral, emotional, or social difficulties (BESD).
